White oak is a type of hardwood with fine grain and small spots throughout, creating a milky white or pale yellow color. One of the important characteristics of white oak is its tough and hard grain, which makes it highly stable and durable. Its light, rustic, and harmonious color easily blends with any space.
**Grain Combination:** By selecting wood pieces according to specific standards, arranging them side by side, and calculating so that each side of the box has seamlessly combined grains, we maximize the natural beauty of the wood.
**Structure:** The surrounding sides are assembled at a 45-degree angle, along with recessed grooves on the top and bottom, which lock the box securely in four directions. This gives the box a seamless and beautifully finished appearance. This is a difficult technique, requiring very high precision.
**Assembly:** Assembling the box shape is a complex task that can only be done by hand. It is a difficult and stressful process where the craftsman arranges the six sides of the box together and uses high-elasticity rubber bands to tightly secure them. This requires strong pulling and tightening forces but still needs continuous adjustment to prevent misalignment under the pressure of time as the glue will dry before the work is completed.
**Ebony Tenon Joints:** Ebony is a precious wood, dense and hard like metal, yet retains the connective properties of wood. The four corners of the box are reinforced with 1mm thick ebony pieces to enhance the connection between the sides. This increases durability and creates an attractive design.
**Hidden Wooden Hinges:** This is a special technique of MinhKha. From the very beginning, the craftsman carefully selects a suitable piece of wood for the back of the box (the grain is very straight, without any flaws). A small part of this wood is used to make the hinges. The hinges are hidden at the back when the box is closed, only revealed when opened, which adds an element of surprise and enhances the customer experience. Achieving this requires entirely hand-made processes, with meticulous steps carefully ordered to avoid mistakes.
**Finishing:** Finished with planing, sanding, and scraping to bring out the full beauty of the wood. The finishing process always takes at least half of the production time, ensuring the wood surface is remarkably smooth and less prone to stains.
*We always use natural oil for finishing, highlighting the meticulous and precise finishing process and preserving the wood's beauty and texture.*
